The first 2016 meeting of the West Cheshire Women’s Business network saw a new location and a new venue, the Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel, and was attended by over 60 entrepreneurs and business owners from across the West Cheshire region. These events provide an opportunity for businesswomen to come together, network and meet likeminded people from across the area.
The West Cheshire Women’s Network is a partnership between West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Ellis & Co Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers and Natwest Bank. The network is in it’s second year now and is growing in size and popularity with every event.
Guest speaker, Caroline Sanger-Davies, Head of Marketing from Chester Zoo gave a passionate insight into the wonderful work that goes on at the zoo, which is the largest visitor attraction outside of London. Caroline has worked in marketing for over 20 years, in a mix of in-house and consultancy roles. She has headed up Marketing & Communications for Cheltenham Literature Festival and Wales Millennium Centre amongst other organisations, and worked in operational management roles for Liverpool Playhouse and Alton Towers. In 2012 she joined Chester Zoo as Head of Marketing, responsible for marketing, PR, sales and fundraising. Since then the organisation has grown its membership and visitor figures significantly, and opened Islands, a £40m extension to the zoo. Caroline lives in Flintshire, with her husband and 9 year old daughter.
Caroline highlighted the Zoo’s charitable status and the pioneering work it does both at home and abroad. The Zoo is continually developing and their work was recently documents in the hit Channel 4 series "The Secret Life of the Zoo”.
