Warrington building firm Morris & Spottiswood scores Bannatyne’s hat-trick

Date added: 18/05/2017

Fit-out firm Morris & Spottiswood has landed a hat-trick of refurbishment contracts with health club operator The Bannatyne Group.

The Warrington-based company has already completed three phases of its first project at Bannatyne’s health club in Kingsford Park, Colchester.

The two further projects, at Bannatyne sites in Chingford and Crewe, will both involve new-build extensions and a raft of refurbishment works to create new gym space and spa facilities, including treatment rooms and nail bars.

According to Kevin Harnick, Morris & Spottiswood’s operations manager, the contracts are an indicator of the company’s growing presence in the leisure and health sectors.

He commented: "We have already completed a large portion of work at the Colchester club with the first three phases of the project now ready for use.

"Work included a transformation of the former reception area into a nail bar, along with full refurbishment of existing toilets. Another phase of the project involved the creation of a retail space to allow for the installation of an Elemis treatment area.

He continued: "All work was delivered on time and to budget. These facilities will help support the expansive gym floor which offers brand new functional training including the Omnia 8, along with a sauna, spa pool and cafe bar."

Discussing the projects in Chingford and Crewe, he added: "These extensive fit-out and refurbishment works will expand the facilities on offer to the health club members and create an even more enjoyable health and leisure experience."

Morris & Spottiswood operates four separate service divisions covering fit-outs, housing, maintenance and mechanical and electrical (M&E). In the latter, the firm has seen sales rise from £4m to £17m in the last three years.

Bannatyne chief exec Justin Musgrove said: "We’re pleased to be working with Morris & Spottiswood on these three significant projects, which are part of a major investment programme being undertaken across our whole portfolio."
