Warrington’s Mini-Cam invests £430k in new Austrian factory

Date added: 10/04/2017

Pipeline inspection equipment firm Mini-Cam has invested in a new factory in Austria to boost its production capacity.

The purpose-built unit, located in the Alpine village of Riezlern, Kleinwalsertal, was developed for the Warrington-based company’s InPipe Innovation subsidiary at a cost of €500k (£430k).

The 7,500 sq ft facility is managed by Dietmar Jochum and has houses a team of eight, with further recruitment planned.

Nigel Wilson, the managing director of Mini-Cam, said the Austrian factory will play a key part in the company’s growth.

The site will produce and pre-assemble precision parts for Mini-Cam’s crawler and push camera inspection systems, which are currently used to conduct underground surveys in over 40 countries.

Final assembly is undertaken at Mini-Cam’s Warrington HQ.

MD Nigel said InPipe’s expanded operation would allow the firm to hold more stock in Europe, helping it meet a growing demand.

He commented: "This new building gives us a strong European presence and room for expansion."

"We started working with Dietmar in 2010 when the idea for our Proteus pipeline crawler inspection system was born, and it is extremely satisfying to see our Austrian subsidiary grow with this purpose-built facility."

Nigel continued: "Austria and southern Germany are renowned worldwide as being centres of engineering excellence, so being in this location also gives us access to the latest machining techniques and skilled staff.

"It’s a very exciting development for Mini-Cam as we embark on our next phase of development."

Mini-Cam is backed by private equity house LDC.

Last year, the firm celebrated achieved a record revenue due to export growth.
