The proposed regeneration of the former Wardle Airfield near Nantwich has taken a major step forward with the submission of the first reserved matters application for the 153.2-acre Cheshire Green scheme.
Having previously secured outline planning approval on behalf of Haughton Estate, HOW Planning has now lodged an application that paves the way for the site's transformation into a new employment park focusing on industrial, storage and distribution users.
HOW Planning has provided extensive planning and environmental advice in relation to the site, which has been identified for employment development in the emerging Cheshire East Local Plan.
This reserved matters application seeks approval for the layout, scale, appearance and landscaping for the site access works, which will help the project come forward for development.
Rhian Harris, senior planner at HOW Planning, said: "Our client has now secured LEP [local enterprise partnership] funding to bring forward the proposed new roundabout junction.
"Approval of this first reserved matters application will significantly increase the site's attractiveness to the market and help in securing end users for the Cheshire Green development."
Cheshire Green has the capacity to provide approximately 1,450,000 sq ft of employment space and could generate up to 1,800 jobs.
Fisher German and Legat Owen are retained as joint agents.
