Pochin's has secured a £9.5m contract to build DeTrafford Estates Group's 75,000 sq ft residential scheme in Manchester's Castlefield district, which will feature New York-inspired rooftop gardens.
The Roof Gardens at One Ellesmere Street is designed to provide more than 70 new homes suitable for families and young professionals.
The development will feature rooftop gardens framed with a crown of corten steel, which Pochin's describes as "the first of their nature in Manchester". The project will also incorporate two tree-lined courtyards.
Jonathan Pochin, managing director of Pochin Construction, said: "We are delighted to be working on the One Ellesmere Street development. It is a privilege to be involved with a project that will provide over 70 new homes for people in Manchester city centre.
"Pochin's involvement is a great illustration of our continued commitment to residential projects and innovative approach to development in the region."
Gary Jackson, founder and director of DeTrafford Estates Group, added: "The Roof Gardens are an exciting new lifestyle opportunity in Manchester, inspired by New York's rooftop living.
"We constantly strive to develop pioneering concepts that can be integrated fully within the everyday necessities of the home and this latest project does just that. One Ellesmere Street provides the perfect location for inner city living with the vibrant community of Castlefield at its doorstop.
"We are extremely pleased to have Pochin's on board and look forward to seeing our vision come to life."
Work on the project is expected to be completed in January 2017.
