Over 100
visitors flocked through the doors as international construction services
company, ISG, recently hosted a very successful Supply Chain Open Day in
partnership with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cheshire West and Chester
Council and Mid Cheshire College.
ISG was recently
appointed as preferred contractor for three new fire stations for Cheshire Fire
and Rescue Service with a combined project value of over £12 million, procured
via the North West Construction Hub framework. The three fire stations will be
in Lymm, Penketh and on Powey Lane, Mollington close to the M56, with the first
project set to commence in Autumn 2015.
A high
percentage of the workforce required to deliver the schemes will be procured
locally and so this event provided a great opportunity for local companies to
come along and find out more about the work packages available and express
their interest in being involved.
The project
partners are also championing the creation of apprenticeship and training opportunities
via the schemes and are encouraging the supply chain to support this.
The event
took place on 19 August at Mid Cheshire College’s Winsford Campus with project
partners on hand to answer questions on the schemes and discuss local training
initiatives.
The visitors
represented a wide spectrum of trades, and the event received good feedback,
including from Chorley company, RJ Urmson, who tweeted: "Great event, great to
meet up with everybody!!”
The enquiry
details are currently being collated and assessed in anticipation of the tender
process picking up pace as these important schemes move towards their
commencement.
