A major new speculative development has been proposed for mid-Cheshire with plans in to build a 150,000 sq ft industrial warehouse on a vacant brownfield site.
Winsford Devco and Combined Development Partnerships (Winsford) have submitted a full planning application to Cheshire West & Chester Council to regenerate a 6.9-acre site at Winsford Industrial Estate on the outskirts of the town. The plot, which previously contained a 195,000 sq ft industrial distribution warehouse that has since been demolished, lies immediately to the east of Road One.
It is proposed that the new development would span 151,019 sq ft. Of this, 143,129 sq ft would be set aside for a ground-floor warehouse with the rest taken up by offices.
There would also be 144 parking spaces and 24 trailer spaces.
A planning statement in support of the planning application has been prepared by Gerald Eve.
It said: "The proposal provides a modern and high-quality industrial warehouse, consistent in design with other industrial units within the surrounding area and which responds to the commercial requirements of a range of potential end users.
"In doing so, the proposal would redevelop a key vacant brownfield site for employment-generating industrial/warehouse development, thus helping to deliver jobs and further inward investment within the area."
Cheshire West & Chester Council has not yet set a date to consider the application.
In December 2015, approximately 90 per cent of businesses agreed to extend the Winsford Industrial Estate Business Improvement District (BID) into a third term. The BID has been developed and managed by Groundwork since 2006.
The Winsford Industrial Estate BID, which will now run until 2021, is the UK's longest running non-retail BID.
