A company has been launched by Cheshire East Council to provide a range of business and employment services.
The local authority’s Skills and Growth Company has been set up to provide a focussed approach to the various needs of working people and businesses in the borough.
The new venture aims to direct businesses towards funding and investment opportunities and to increase the availability of apprenticeships. It will also support people into work, help to create jobs, and stimulate growth and innovation.
Although Skills and Growth Company is described as an ‘arms-length’ business, which brings services for residents under one structure, it will be working closely with the council.
Councillor Paul Bates, chairman of the new company, said: "We have agreed a delivery plan with the council which will raise skills and create employment opportunities, unlock growth, promote innovation and ensure businesses have the support they need to grow and invest.
"Put simply, our ambition is to help others to fulfil theirs."
