Roberts bakery earns a better crust

FAMILY-owned Cheshire bakery has hailed a year of progress as sales and operating profits rose. The company, based at Rudheath near Northwich recently opened a 3,000 sq metre new bakery on the site enabling production of 7,000 loaves an hour, was founded in 1887 and has more than 850 staff. Its accounts for the year to the end of August 2014 show operating profits rising from £8.6m to £8.9m as sales rose 6% to £93.7m.Chairman Robert Higginson, a former boss of Warburton's who joined the business in early 2014, said ...
