THE annual Warrington Business Awards event has helped boost the Mayor’s charity coffers by more than £3,500.
The Mayor of Warrington Cllr Faisal Rashid thanked business leaders when he was presented a cheque for £3,588 at the town hall for his charity appeal.
Funds were raised at the Warrington Business Awards 2016, sponsored by Deepbridge Capital, Natwest and Styles & Co Chartered Accountants. The event was organised by networking groups Business Breakfast Group, Pro Warrington and Warrington First last June in a giant marquee at Lymm Rugby Club.
The Mayor’s chosen charities are Brainwave, St Rocco’s Hospice, The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation For Peace and Warrington Disability Partnership.
Jennifer McGuinness, Warrington Business Awards organising committee member and Associate Solicitor at FDR Law said: "Councillor Rashid is well known in the local business community so, when he became Mayor and advised us of his plans to support four local charities, we were only too happy to ensure all charitable donations from the Warrington Business Awards went to his chosen charities.
"The Warrington Business Awards were not only a great celebration of local business, but an opportunity to raise funds for these four diverse but equally amazing charities.”
Cllr Rashid added: "I am delighted that the Warrington Business Awards organising committee elected to support my chosen charities at the 2016 awards ceremony.
"The event itself was a fantastic celebration of the great businesses, organisations and entrepreneurs in the local area. For guests at the awards to then dip into their pockets to help these charities is a wonderful gesture, and very much appreciated.”
