Proposals for a major new building that would provide more than 110,000 sq ft of office space on a greenbelt site in Chester Business Park look set to secure the go-ahead.
Chester Parkside's outline planning application to develop a 7.4-acre site on Herons Way is set to go before Cheshire West and Chester Council's planning committee on Tuesday, 5 September 2017. Some of the existing site is vacant although the northern part is home to an area of dense woodland.
The proposed development seeks to combine three sites on Chester Business Park, Parkside One, Parkside Three and Wrexham Road Farm, into a single plot. The plot is located within the North Cheshire Green Belt.
The Paddock Johnson Partnership-designed scheme involves creating up to 111,406 sq ft of office space with large open-plan floorplates over three floors, as well as 280 parking spaces. The woodland area would be retained as part of the development.
It is envisaged that the proposal could create up to around 790 jobs.
Ahead of the meeting, a report prepared by planning officers has advised that the scheme should be approved. This recommendation is subject to referral to communities and local government secretary Sajid Javid.
Chester Business Park is currently home to a range of high-profile occupiers including MBNA, M&S Bank, GBG, Tetrapak, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Regus.
