A luxury golf resort between Wilmslow and Macclesfield has lodged ambitious expansion plans, which include adding dozens more rooms and creating new conference facilities in the greenbelt.
Hotel group QHotels has submitted a full planning application to Cheshire East Council to alter and extend Mottram Hall. The grade II*-listed building was constructed as a country house in 1750 but is now home to a four-star 120-bedroom hotel.
The site also boasts the Mottram Hall Championship Golf Course, an 18-hole 7,000-yard course set in 270 acres of Cheshire parkland near the village of Presbury.
QHotels, which acquired Mottram Hall from De Vere in November 2014, is proposing a new two-storey conference centre extension featuring nine meeting rooms, a new four-storey bedroom extension with 34 bedrooms, 15 more bedrooms through the conversion of existing meeting rooms, a new service hub, and an increase to the capacity of the main car park by 52 spaces and the overflow car park by 21 spaces.
