Ellesmere Port based L&R Roadlines, one of the UK’s leading road marking and surfacing contractors, has been awarded a major contract to provide a range of permanent road marking solutions as part of the new £600M Mersey Gateway, a landmark civil engineering infrastructure project.
L&R Roadlines is providing road markings, cats-eyes and anti-skid treatments for over 38km of new road lanes that form part of the project, including the new six-lane toll bridge that will run between the towns of Runcorn and Widnes.
All marking and surfacing materials are manufactured at the Hitex plant in Ellesmere Port. The new bridge will provide a second road crossing over the Mersey 1.5km to the east of the congested and ageing Silver Jubilee Bridge and form the centrepiece of a new and improved high standard link road that connects the national motorway network at Junction 12 of the M56 in North Cheshire with the A562 Speke Road in Merseyside.
Following on from the award of this contract, L&R Roadlines is also providing a range of additional works, including temporary lines and road markings, to assist with site traffic management and safety during the ongoing construction phase of the project.
"We are delighted to be providing road markings and anti-skid treatments for such a prestigious contract,” added Michael Littleboy, Contract Manager at L&R Roadlines. "The Mersey Gateway is one of the most unique and high profile construction projects currently taking place and we are proud to be part of such a professional supply chain.”
