Mid-market private equity firm Livingbridge has invested into a Cheshire-based company that claims to be the UK's largest independent supplier of used motorbikes.
Livingbridge said that its investment into Superbike Factory will support the company's plans to accelerate growth through the opening of a new site in the South of England, increased marketing initiatives, more opportunities for staff and providing new added-value services for its loyal customers. The deal is being financed from Livingbridge's Enterprise 2 Fund, which raised £220m when it opened in October 2015.
Superbike was founded by entrepreneurs Scott Behrens and James Watson in 2010 as a digital-first business that combines retail and sourcing online with a physical showroom operation in Macclesfield. The group's website attracts more than 50,000 online visitors each month with its online stock list, finance options and direct-to-door delivery nationwide.
Superbike also provides a range of financing offers for its customers through its Superbike Loans business, a specialist finance broker in the motorcycle market that has relationships with more than 300 UK dealers.
Alongside Superbike's range of digital channels, its showroom with a full suite of dealership facilities enables it to store and display more than 500 bikes and acts as a hub for multiple inspections for every bike and a nationwide collection and delivery service. The fast-growing company, which employs 89 staff, has more than tripled sales in the last two years against the backdrop of a robust UK motorcycle market with approximately 1.35 million registered motorcycles and 450,000 motorcycles changing hands during 2016.
