The company's latest acquisition was supported by financial backing from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Mili-Cargo specialises in the international distribution of chilled and ambient loads through its fleet of 50 trucks, which will add significantly to the capabilities of Maltacourt both in Hungary and across the EU.

István Madarász founded the business and will continue as managing director.

Maltacourt has been driving growth within its Hungarian business over the past 12 months, extending its capabilities beyond freight forwarding into specialist road distribution.

Matt Beech, chief executive of Maltacourt, said: "We have been strategically expanding our service offering, deepening our capabilities and growing the business assets.

"We set out just over a year ago with a plan to significantly grow our Hungarian business and I'm thrilled with the success so far. We're an ambitious business and we hope to share further exciting news in the coming months."

Andy Matley, senior relationship manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland, added: "We have forged an excellent relationship with Matt and have sound knowledge of his business aspirations for Hungary and the wider EU. The Mili-Cargo acquisition is testament to Matt's capability of capitalising on opportunities that present themselves for the benefit of all."
