Hultons Landscapes gets £1.5m Ordsall Chord contract

Date added: 28/04/2017

Cheshire-based Hultons Landscapes has been appointed by Skanska-BAM Nuttall to deliver £1.5m worth of landscaping works for the new Ordsall Chord.

The phased works will see Hultons’ 30-strong project team complete more than 43,000sq ft of paving and walling along the new route, which is part of Network Rail’s £1bn-plus Great North Rail Project.

It will also install new greenery where the new line crosses the River Irwell and a lighting system to enhance the historic Stephenson’s Bridge and other Grade I-listed structures. The contract has now begun and is due to complete in 2018.

The appointment is the latest commercial success for the Lymm business and follows its acquisition of Wright Landscapes at the end of last year which has allowed it to expand its UK presence.

Lee Webster, managing director at Hultons Landscapes, said: "The Ordsall Chord is a milestone development for not only Greater Manchester but for the north of England. The landscaping provides a great opportunity to showcase the area’s Victorian railway and historic structures, such as Stephenson’s Bridge, to make this heritage known to future generations.

"In the past six months we’ve seen a step change in our growth as a business. As a result we’re increasingly targeting strategic appointments like this, which see us providing large-scale landscaping work for key development sites across the country.”
