Guy Butler to chair Chester Renaissance

Date added: 22/07/2015

Chester Renaissance and Cheshire West & Chester Council have appointed Guy Butler as the new chairman of the Chester Renaissance Development Board.

Butler spent 15 years at Grosvenor, working on Liverpool ONE during development, and has represented a number of charities and organisations including Crisis and Chester Cathedral and recently set up his own property company, Glenbrook, with business partner Ian Sherry.

Leader of the council and Chester Renaissance Development Board member, Cllr Sam Dixon, said: "This is a fantastic appointment and a great opportunity to really drive the regeneration of Chester and the vision of Chester as adopted in the Chester One City Plan.

"We look forward to working with Guy to refocus our efforts on what the next priorities are for the city.”

CWAC strategic director, Charlie Seward, said: "Guy has a fantastic track record working in the development and property industry and worked for Grosvenor for 15 years.

"His work includes the delivery of the Liverpool One for Grosvenor and we look forward to working with Guy to bring some of his experience to delivery of key projects in Chester.”

Butler said: "I’m hugely excited to be taking the reins at this time, the One City Plan has delivered the strategic vision for Chester and over the last three years we have seen a significant amount of development including the Central Business Quarter, The Zoo and The Theatre.

"The challenge for me is to ensure key partners are engaged, focussed and working in collaboration to deliver the next priorities in the plan, and for the Chester Renaissance Development Board to be strategic leader for delivery in Chester.”

The Chester Renaissance Development Board will meet this month to discuss how they are going to deliver the next steps of the One City Plan.

Butler replaces Eric Langton, formerly of newspaper group Trinity Mirror, as chairman.
