Ellesmere Port-based civil engineering firm Moorcroft grows turnover to £5m

Date added: 05/07/2017

Civil engineering and building firm Moorcroft Construction is celebrating after growing its turnover to £5m.

The Ellesmere Port-based company saw its sales grow 38% against last year’s £3.6m following a raft of new client wins.

In comparison to two years ago, Moorcroft’s revenues have more than doubled.

Recent client wins include a three-year framework agreement with nuclear fuel company URENCO to deliver projects at its site in Capenhurst, and a civil engineering project in partnership with Addison Project PLC to provide infrastructure and reinforced concrete flooring works for Warrington chemicals firm PQ Corporation.

To meet an increasing demand for its services, Moorcroft has expanded its workforce from 40 to 50.

Managing director Myles Platt, who leads the company alongside finance director Jan Platt, said: "We are pleased that we have sustained the growth of 2015/16 through 2016/17 and now into the current financial year.

"We have invested a lot of time getting out to see our customers and industry partners, telling them about the range of civil engineering and building services we are able to provide.”

He added: "We have a highly skilled in-house workforce with a proven track record of delivering often complex projects for clients.”

Moorcroft was founded more than 80 years ago in Bedfordshire, moving its HQ to the North West in the 1960s.

Today, the firm provides civil engineering and building services for General Motors, Cargill, Balfour Beatty, Peel Ports, Unilever and others.

Speaking further, Myles added: "We are proud of our history as a company, starting out as a civil engineering business before adding the building services division.

"But we are also conscious of the need to continue offering our clients innovative solutions that meet their requirements across the industrial, commercial and residential sectors.”
