A proposed £160m regeneration scheme in Cheshire could bring about 25 new retail and restaurant operators to the area and employ about 950 workers, the Alderley Edge-headquartered property developer behind the project has revealed.
The ambitious plans for a new shopping centre on the former RAF site at Handforth Dean are being promoted by Consolidated Property Group (CPG). It said that the proposals could be a "massive boost" for Cheshire East's economy and employment in the area.
It is also estimated that more than 150 contractors, subcontractors and trade companies employing a further 400 would be onsite during the 18-month construction works.
CPG's group managing director Martin Ridgway said that the development in Handforth has the potential to transform the area and, in particular, the site which has been vacant for more than 20 years.
