Building and civil engineering firm Construction Partnership UK (CPUK Group) has secured a £3m contract to create a new research and development facility in Warrington for lubricant industry manufacturer Rock Oil.
The 10,000 sq ft centre, forming part of a major redevelopment of the company’s Cheshire operations, will house staff from across Rock Oil’s technical, marketing, sales and senior management departments.
Further, the facility’s laboratory will contain over £1m worth of advanced technical equipment, which Rock Oil hopes will place it at the cutting edge of the lubricants industry.
The three storey scheme was designed by Liverpool architects Falconer Chester Hall and will contain new office space in addition to the lab.
The project’s building phase is forecast to take 34 weeks to complete.
Steve Burke, CPUK Group’s managing director, said: "We will be using all our experience and know-how in the sector to create this cutting-edge new development for Rock Oil.
"Once completed, it will help Rock Oil remain at the forefront of the lubricants industry."
He added: "The development represents a major investment by a long-established North West business and highlights how manufacturing, which is such an important part of the economy, is continuing to move forward and invest in the region."
Founded in Warrington nearly 90 years ago, family-owned Rock Oil is one of the few blenders of lubricants still manufacturing in the UK.
The company is currently official lubricant partner of the British Superbike Series.
Skelmersdale-headquartered CPUK Group was established in 2000 and today holds an order book of more than £60m.
