Chester beefs up Northgate delivery team

Date added: 12/06/2017

Gardiner & Theobald and AECOM have been appointed as project manager and quantity surveyor respectively on Chester’s Northgate project.

The contracts, advertised through OJEU, are worth £1.72m and £1.2m respectively and are set for the duration of the project.

The £300m scheme proposed by Cheshire West & Chester Council and its development advisor Rivington Land was approved in September 2016. Rivington was appointed in 2014 after previous versions of the scheme failed to get off the ground.

Leasing agent JLL and architect ACME are both advising on the scheme, while GVA’s compulsory purchase team and Strutt & Parker, as funding advisor, have both joined the team since September.

In February, House of Fraser agreed to pre-let a 100,000 sq ft department store, while an affiliate of MCAP Global Finance signed an agreement to open a four-star Crowne Plaza hotel.

The Storyhouse arts centre opened to some acclaim in May, while last week it was announced that Cosy Club has completed a deal to operate a 5,500 sq ft restaurant in the Hunter’s Arcade part of Northgate.
