Date added: 27/10/2015

West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce has expanded its team with the appointment of its first ever apprentice through West Cheshire College.

Beth Gittins, 18, from Chester, applied for the position as she wanted to compliment her previous academic studies by gaining practical work experience.

Beth said: "I wanted to get into business as soon as possible. I’m really enjoying the role and I’m confident that my apprenticeship will help me to develop so many additional skills to offer future employers.”

At the Chamber, Beth, who has been in the role since the start of September, will help with day-to-day office duties and work across all departments including finance, membership, events and export.

Executive director at West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce Colin Brew said: "We’ve been thoroughly delighted to welcome Beth to the West Cheshire and North Wales Chamber of Commerce team. We are confident that Beth will continue to expand upon her knowledge and hope that over the course of her two year Apprenticeship, she learns invaluable skills to benefit her on both a professional and personal level.

"We recognise how beneficial apprenticeship schemes are as they provide young adults with an opportunity to enter into a professional working environment whilst allowing them to continue learning and developing their skills.

"We’d like to express our gratitude to West Cheshire College who have played a central role in the recruitment process and continue to offer Beth on-going support and assessment, it’s an exciting new stage for our Chamber and a great time for Beth to join us.’’

Managing director business and employer engagement at West Cheshire College Maria Davison said: "As a Patron member of the Chamber we are delighted that they have decided to recruit their own apprentice. Apprenticeships are a vital way of helping businesses grow and develop by bringing in young talent and giving them the opportunity to become important members of the team.”
