A Cheshire-based body armour specialist has been acquired by a US giant which was once part of BAE and makes products such as protective equipment and firearm holsters for sectors including the military, law enforcement and security.
Warrington-headquartered Aegis Engineering, which was formed in 1990, has been bought by the Safariland Group.
Aegis Engineering designs and makes a range of personal protective apparel and equipment including body armour, ballistic helmets, shields, blankets and rifle plates. The company operates from a 22,000 sq ft facility in Warrington capable of producing 30,000 body armour components per month where it employs 50 staff.
At the same time, Safariland also announced the acquisition of Canada-based Pacific Safety Products and Northamptonshire-based LBA International.
