Plans to convert the former Knutsford Crown Court building into a hotel and restaurant look set to be approved.
The grade II*-listed Sessions House is a three-storey Georgian property which was constructed in 1818.
Designed by renowned architect George Moneypenny, it is situated on Toft Road in the heart of Knutsford town centre.
The application to be considered by Cheshire East Council on 11 January 2017 is to convert and extend the building into a hotel and conference facility.
The 42 bedrooms associated with the hotel would be located entirely within the extension which would face the Boots supermarket to the rear.
The main conversion within the existing Sessions House will include the original Court One being transformed into a function space, with Court Two earmarked as a restaurant.
A number of the smaller rooms within the original building would be retained and will function as toilets, store rooms and kitchens. The internal structure of the property would be largely unchanged.
