Retail giant Amazon has unveiled plans to create 1,200 permanent jobs with the opening of a huge new warehouse in the North West.
The company has announced that the new fulfilment centre will be located in Warrington. It will begin recruiting later this year for a range of new roles, including operations managers, engineers, HR and IT specialists.
The Warrington site represents one of four new fulfilment centres that Amazon will open in 2017. Last year, Amazon announced that it would open fulfilment centres in Daventry, Doncaster and Tilbury in 2017, creating more than 2,300 new permanent full-time jobs.
The Daventry site opened in February while Doncaster, Warrington and Tilbury will begin their operations in the autumn.
Stefano Perego, Amazon's director of UK customer fulfilment, said: "We are thrilled to begin recruitment for 1,200 new permanent roles in Warrington with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits starting on day one."
Amazon, which is headquartered in Seattle, has approximately 285 million active customer accounts worldwide. The Amazon.co.uk website launched in 1998.
It currently has 12 fulfilment centres across the UK in Doncaster, Coalville, Daventry, Dunfermline, Dunstable, Gourock, Hemel Hempstead, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Rugeley and Swansea Bay.
