A fast-growing manufacturer has secured the go-ahead to construct a new purpose-built £22m factory, which would create about 300 jobs, in mid-Cheshire.
Baloo Properties' full planning application to transform a 23.6-acre site to the east of Road One on Winsford Industrial Estate for trailer manufacturer Tiger Trailers has been approved by Cheshire West & Chester Council's planning committee.
The plot earmarked for development, which is primarily agricultural pastureland at the moment, is located to the north of Tiger Trailers' existing factory where approximately 190 staff are employed.
AJA Architects' scheme involves constructing a purpose-built factory for Tiger Trailers on the site and seeks permission for up to 242,220 sq ft of office and industrial floor space. There would also be 289 parking spaces.
The proposal has been designed so that it can be built out principally in two phases or one if necessary. In total, the new site would employ approximately 500 members of staff.
In April 2017, Tiger Trailers unveiled plans to build what it described as the UK's most advanced trailer and commercial vehicle body manufacturing facility. Tiger Trailers said that it hoped to break ground on the new purpose-built £22m factory in early 2018, with production to transfer into the facility later in the year.
