Chester’s Riverside Innovation Centre has played host to a range of employers looking to fill vacancies at the city’s latest ‘Live Local, Work Local’ jobs event.
Over 20 employers and support organisations and more than 200 people attended the popular event, prompting a range of job opportunities, training and skills advice; including apprenticeships, transport advice re accessing jobs, childcare and self-employment support.
The Jobsfair is a partnership with the Riverside Innovation Centre, University of Chester, Department for Work and Pensions and Cheshire West and Chester Council in association with Deejobs.com.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Infrastructure, Councillor Brain Clark, said: "Ensuring that those looking for new opportunities are aware of, and can access, the range of jobs on offer is a great way to support local people and in turn the local economy.
"Visitors could receive support on anything from starting a business and apprenticeships to skills and training and accessing employment sites via public transport.
"It’s a chance for anyone looking for a new job or a change of career to get a wide range of support all under one roof.”
The next Chester ‘Live Local, Work Local Event’ Jobsfair will take place on Tuesday, September 8 and the organisers are looking to hear from companies currently recruiting.
Clare McDonnell from Arecibo who recruits into the hospitality sector commented: ‘Thank you so much again for inviting us to the ‘Live Local, Work Local’ Jobsfair yesterday. It was a great experience. We also met some good candidates and will keep you posted as to potential successes!’
